What is GAMETUB?

GAMETUB was born through the frustrations of not having a good online video game rental portal for Australian consumers (like GameFly), added to a tightening economic climate… Not everyone can buy the games they want to play, and what’s the easiest way to play something you don’t have… Borrow it off someone else!

Are these permanent swaps or temporary?

That’s wholly and solely up to you and the other person, but I would envisage loaning the games for around a month, but like I said, not up to me!

How do I get in touch with someone to borrow something?

For the sake of safety and tracking, please contact @GAMETUB and I will organise contact with the user.

If GAMETUB takes off and gets a little momentum, we’ll work on developing an automated system to make life easier…

So who keeps track of who has what?

We will keep a track of who has borrowed what from who, just in case…

Ok, that sounds all well and good, but how can I trust it?

Like anything that involves a swap or lending, there is an element of trust involved.  We recommend that people start following people listed here on Twitter, get to know them, see that they’re real and won’t ’stooge’ you…

Do the swaps have to be one-to-one, a game for a game?

That’s entirely up to the person lending the game, they can ask for a game to lend in return, alternatively they can just lend the games out.

What about postage, who pays that?

You do, I think you’d rather pay a maximum of $5 towards postage, than to pay $10+ for a weeks game rental…

But I totally understand if someone has asked to loan three games from you, asking for some money for postage would not be frowned upon. But I would hope that an equal amount of lending and being the lender would square the ledger, but that’s for you to work out…

How can I join in this fun?

It’s easy, for the sake of verification, all you need to do is send a photo of yourself holding a hand-written sign with your Twitter name  OR your email address to admin at quiteclearlyawesome dot com, include a list of games including the type of console you’re willing to swap. Once I’ve verified you are who you are with your photo, I will post your  game information, I will also make sure our Twitter account @GAMETUB tweets your adding to the site!

Well it’s up to you, the people, to make it work… It’s a simple premise that requires people power to work…

Can we blame you when things go wrong?

Hell no, I’m just providing the platform for people to be able to connect… I’m the matchmaker, everything you do from there is up to you!

Sure, the more the merrier!
